The sways of economic reforms and globalization has transformed the Corporate Scenario all over the globe and with the formation of WTO it has a major impact on Amalgamation and Merger of Companies in India. Amalgamation is a combination of two companies wherein one loses its corporate existence. The surviving company, which is also called the amalgamated company, acquires both the assets and liabilities of the merged company, which is also called the amalgamating company. Mergers are called amalgamation in legal parlance. Growth through mergers has assumed importance in the current scenario. Companies are looking towards growth through which they would be in a position to acquire control over market and have larger access to emerging markets through which they would be able to get a larger position of market share. India is growing big and with it our markets are also growing bigger as a result of which many companies are trying hard to get control over Indian market by purchasing new companies or by merging with emerging companies.
