Description
Cases and Materials on Interpretation of Statutes is an attempt to present the Principles of Statutory Interpretation in a new manner - by scanning the judgments of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and putting together the principles that could be culled from them. Based on the first principle concept the book interprets principles right from the meaning of "statute" and "interpretation to the various codes that have been evolved for interpreting a statute. Special statutes that interpret the Constitution, taxing statutes and beneficial statutes are also included as are judgments on some legal maxims. Cases and Materials on Interpretation of Statutes is a useful compilation not only for the members of the Bar but also for the Judiciary. The primary reference for this book is the All India Reporter; all passages have been verified from other sources. The reader is advised to cross-check with the reported judgments especially SCR or SCC. Feedback is welcome at devarajan.h@gmail.com.
