Author Details
Subhash C Kashyap is a well-known author and expert in constitutional law and parliamentary affairs. He had his higher education and professional training at Allahabad, New Delhi, Washington DC, Dallas, London and Geneva. He began his professional career as a journalist and as Assistant Professor at the University of Allahabad. Also, he had his training as an Advocate at the Allahabad High Court in 1951-52. He was intimately associated with Parliament of India for over 37 years from the first Lok Sabha days of Nehru and Mavalankar. He took voluntary retirement from the post of Secretary-General of Lok Sabha in 1990. Earlier, he had been Director of the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies and Head of CIDP (IPU) at Geneva. He has been Member and Chairman of several high level committees and was a Member of the National Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution and Chairman of its Drafting and Editorial Committee (2000-2002). He was elected Member of the Board of Directors of the International IDEA at Stockholm, Sweden for three years. A recepient of the Padma Bhushan, he earned several other honours in India and abroad including the Honorary title of Commander and degree of H.O.A.S.F. (Honorary Order of the Academy of San Francisco). He has published over 100 books (in English and Hindi). Some of these have been translated into several other languages and have been best sellers. Presently, he is President of Indian National Bar Association, Rashtriya Jagriti Sansthan, Citizenship Development Society and Asian Confluence.He is also Honorary Research Professor at the Centre for Policy Research.
