Author Details
Dr Gurbax Singh
, author of the 1st edition of this work, was born on October 2, 1949. He didi his B.Sc. from the Punjab University in 1968 and his LL.M. in 1973 from the Meerut University. In 1981 he was awarded Ph.D. in Law from the University of Rajasthan. He was also awarded U.G.C. National Research Fellowship from 1984-89 for "Codification of Law of Torts". He had been teaching law since 1973 and has since retired.
He has won laurels for his famous work: Law of Consumer Protection published in 1990 and reprinted a number of timed thereafter as also for Digest of Consumer Protection Cases, 1986-1995. He has also written a number of other law books.
Dr r. G. Chatuvedi, who is revised this work for its 2nd, 3rd and 4th editions, was born on July 3, 1931. Did his M.A. (Phil) in 1953 and topped in LL.B. in 1954 from the University of Rajasthan. Did his Ph.D. on Philosophy of Justice in 1978 and D.L.tt. in Philosophy of Law in 1987 from the Agra University.
He is a Prolific writer which is borne out by the fact that he has written over two dozen books on law and revised as many well-known legal classics.
He is recipient of the prestogious National Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award conferred by the Uttar Pradesh hindi Sansthan for his work: Samvaidhanik Darshan (Philosophy of constitution) in Hindi. He attended World Conference of the International Political Science Association at Washington in 1988 and read a paper: New Forms of Justice. He was appointed as a Gust Professor of Jurisprudence of the University of North Texas, USA where he delivered a lecture: Basic Structure of Constitution of India.
