Description
The Sixth edition of this book "Law Relating to Power of Attorney" is in the hands of readers. In the last edition, we had made several changes by adding six new chapters, namely (1) Power of Attorney and Agency, (2) Advocate as Power of Attorney, (3) Power of Attorney  and Registration, (4) Power of Attorney and Arbitration, (5) Power of Attorney and Tax Laws, and (6) Power of Attorney and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. The purpose of addition of these new chapters in the last edition is not far to seek. IMDB The Power of Attorney Act, 1882 consists of only five sections and commentary on these sections is given in Chapter 2 of the book. The importance of power of attorney cannot be judged by inadequate number of sections in the Power of Attorney Act, 1882 as compared to various Sections in other Statutes. Due to widespread use of power of attorney in variety of circumstances, purposes, departments and places, certain provisions of other statutes also deal with the "power of attorney" in relation to usage of such Acts. Therefore, since the scope of this book is not confined to Power of Attorney Act, 1882, but is wider as the book title, "Law Relating to Power of Attorney" suggests we had endeavoured to widen its scope and added aforesaid six chapters in the previous edition of the book.
