Description
Intellectual property Rights (IPRs) have grown into one of the world's biggest and fastest-growing fields of law crossing physical boundaries and have increased the demand for IP professionals to deal with (IPRs) cases across national and international borders. With the rapid growth of technological, scientific and medical innovation, new designs, marks, and logos, the importance of IPRs has increased manifold and IPR laws have become indispensable
At the international level, WIPO and WTO have played a commendable role in the protection and promotion of IPRs by adopting various international instruments. The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) of the World Trade Organization is one such example that has enhanced the protection and enforcement of IPRs to the level of solemn international commitment.
The domain of Intellectual Property is vast. Designs and Geographical Indications are some areas covered in this book. In India, several new legislations for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs) have been enacted to meet the international obligations under the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).
Indian Designs Act, 2000 and the Indian Geographical Indications Act, 1999 are also in tune with International Law.
This book gives the reader a simplified insight into the various technical and legal issues of International and Indian law relating to IPRs in an easily understandable form. Simplified examples and landmark judicial decisions, both Indian and foreign, are referred to, to explain the concepts to the students.
I am sure the readers will find this book quite useful in their study-both 3 and 5 years LL.B. courses.
