Description
The new criminal law enacted w.e.f. 1-7-2024 has brought new challenges before the law-enforcing agencies, legal professionals as well as judges. There widespread concerns among the legal professions over certain new pro- visions and they allege that the new Acts have been enacted without prior debates. The new law proposes to include terrorism as a general law in spite of special provisions already exists to govern it. Legal experts forsee urgent need of upgrading forensic infrastructure all over the country.
The new criminal laws have brought significant changes including re- numbering of sections. For instance, dealing with murder was covered under section 300 of IPC whereas now it would be dealt under section 101 in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). There has been significant procedural chang- es to streamline and expedite criminal justice system. Now Bharatiya Nagar- ik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) introduces mandatory forensic investigation for criminal activities punishable upto seven years and more. A specific timeline have been prescribed more particularly for medical reports in rapes cases and judgments to be delivered within 30 to 60 days.

Now we are publish- ing upgraded and updated fifth edition of the book A to Z of Criminal Trial under New Criminal Laws with our best efforts to cater the needs of readers more particularly legal professionals and law students.
