Description
Water Tater law is progressively becoming a central area of concern most people an in water. In a context where water is everyone's concern and water crises (scarcity and floods) are becoming more frequent and significant, it is apt that the regulation of access to, control over, conservation of, and protection of water should attract increasing interest. There is no easy way to map water law, which is made up of a variety of legal instruments at the state and union levels, including legal instruments that are labelled as water law and many others that are usually identified as belonging to other fields of law, such as environmental law. There are also various types of relevant instruments, including statutes and administrative directions that govern several areas of water regulation, which are not covered by a separate legislation. This book brings together in one volume a representative sample of water law instruments mapping the main components of water law. It seeks to highlight the structure of water law, the multiplicity of legal instruments, and the diversity of perspectives in different parts of the country and in different sectors. It reproduces some key texts of water law at the union and state levels. Further, it includes contextual introductions, as well as references to a number of other legal instruments available online and selected readings in the various areas covered.
