On persistent demand we are pleased to reprint for independent readers the full text of the well-known TRIPLE TALAQ CASE (Shayara Bano v. Union of India) decided by a constitution Bench of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India on August 22, 2017 and reported in the Supreme Court cases at (2017) 9 SCC 1. By a majority of 3:2 the Hon'ble Supreme Court set aside the practice of Talaq-e- Biddat or Triple Talaq holding it illegal and not protected by Article 25 of the Constitution of India. Justices Nariman, J. and Lalit, J. also held the practice of Triple Talaq as manifestly arbitary and hence violative  of the equality clause contained in Article 14 of the
