Description
It was the far-sightedness and wisdom of the founding Fathers of the Constitution of India, that they prescribed a binding oath in its Third Schedule for the high Constitutional appointees who govern the destiny of the Nation. The oath calls upon them to "do right al all manner of people in accordance with the Constitution and the law, without fear or favour, affection or ill will." The Founding Fathers further vested the judiciary with powers of judicial scrutiny of all acts of other organs of the State in order to determine their legality and constitutionality. The Supreme Court by making a large number of interventions and by quashing the Executive decisions and Legislative enactments, which were violative of the Constitutional provisions, has indeed proved itself to be supreme. It has risen up to the expectation of the Founding Fathers by guarding the Constitution and protecting the rights of our countrymen.
