Description
The Government of India had never been oblivious of the miserable plight of the people of the SC/ST category in our country whose sufferance from indigence, illiteracy, inequality in status and opportunity, atrocities in the form of duress, coercion, forced labour had made them live like down-trodden men. With the advent of country's Independence, the Government taking it as a burning topic, rose to the occasion for remediel measures on priority basis.
In monitoring the cause of their betterment, the Government had taken necessary steps for providing educational facilities alongwith reservation of posts in Government departments for service at appropriate percentage rate(s). They (Government) also made definite provision in the Constitution of India giving them guarantee of equality of status and opportunity in common society.
