I was associated with this treatise from the very beginning but for some personal reason I finally decided to remain anonymous.
This time Kamal Lodha, the publisher requested me to take charge of the present edition and I accepted the offer. Without taking any credit I say with humility that the present edition is so exhaustive that it is comparable to any other leading treatise on the subject. Of course, the merit of any book is judged by the learned readers, and not by the author. But, I can say that I have spared no pains to incorporate not only current decisions of Supreme Court and various High Courts but also a few old decisions rendered by the Privy Council. Moreover many Supreme Court Guidelines have been incorporated Section-wise in proper places. Essential Ingredients of Offence and Model Form of Charge have been given in each and every Section of this Code. I have extensively quoted the Code maker's views on different topics. In my humble opinion any provision of the Code can be better explained when one knows what the father of the Code thought of about it. The entire endeavour is to explain the legal implications of different provisions of the Penal Code. This treatise, I sincerely believe, will cater to the needs of both the prosecution and defence equally.
