Description
Domestic Violence Act, in my opinion, is not a beneficial legislation in true sense as it has enormously bestowed favours only to female folks, sometimes even ignoring the genuine grievances of the males. At the same time it cannot be denied that in spite of various legislations male chauvinism remains unabated in our society. The legislative mandate, accordingly, has to be given effect so as to eradicate the cruel treatment, both physical and mental, which a married woman has to bear within the guarded confines of her matrimonial home. Perhaps there is gainsaying that the Act of 2005 is a clumsy legislation for which the judicial opinions are not always the very same. I say with humility, and not with pride that apes humility, that in discharge of my duty as an author, I have given my own views on all controversial matters with an endeavour to reach the heart of the legislation.
