Description
It is usual to have acknowledgements that express an author's thanks to people who made possible to put the book together. I, too, have such people to acknowledge. But my first thanks to those who were deserving of acknowledgment long before this book was even a gleam in my eyes: my late parents and my teachers and Gurus, whether in school, college, or at places I have been lucky to have studied and worked both in United States and India. I am also indebted to patent agents and attorneys I have been privileged to coach over online coaching sessions for preparing for the Indian patent agent exam. I owe them a lot for having been the willing guinea pigs for my initial efforts in learning to present the basic ideas about patent drafting that I had internalised. This book was initially intended as a guide to prepare for the Indian patent agent exam, but as I was going through the various sections of the Act, I realised that the book should refer to corresponding provisions of other jurisdictions and how they treated basic concepts of industrial applicability, novelty and obviousness. In this way, writing this book became a learning experience for me as well.
