Description
The second edition of "The Outlines of Maritime Law" is now in the hands of the students' community. The students will find that the book has been recast, enlarged and revised with upto date materials on the subject. The  subject, "Maritime Law" has gained importance and has been prescribed as a subject of LL.B. Course by the Bar Council of India, when the Third U.N. Convention on Law of the Sea, 1982, was framed  and adopted for the welfare of all nations. Now the law on all aspects of the sea, has been settled to the satisfaction of   all states, and if any dispute relating to sea areas between the states arises, the foremost forum for settlement of dispute is the International Tribunal for Law of the Sea. The International Court of Justice and Arbitral Tribunals are other options prescribed by the  Convention for the states,  for resolution of their sea disputes.
Recent case laws on the subject propounded by the International Court of Justice as well as the International Tribunal for Law of the Sea, have been incorporated at relevant places in the book. Besides, other study materials including the debates which took place during the conference of U.N. Convention on Law of the Sea, 1982, have prominently found place in the book, in order to inform the students about the needs and aspirations of various groups of states in sea, which were settled by the Convention.
