Description
Motilal Setalvad joined the Bombay Bar in 1911 and soon became one of its leading members, from 1937 to 1942 he was the Advocate-General of Bombay, and from 1950 to 1962 the Attorney-General of India. Between 1947 and 1950 he represented the country before the Radcliffe Commission and the United Nations. As Advocate-General of Bombay he defended the prohibition and property tax legislation of the first Congress Government. As Attorney-General, Mr. Setalvad appeared in almost every important Constitutional Case decided by the Supreme Court. Mr. Setalvad also had to advise on many questions of importance and came into contact with leading public men. This autobiography is the story of Mr. Setalvad's professional and public life. This story, as also the descriptions of judges, lawyers and public men will interest the general reader as well as the lawyer. Readers interested in Constitutional law will find the book particularly interesting.
