Description
Introduction to Muslim Law was an abridgment of our larger work Muslim Law in India and Abroad (2012). As a second restructured edition of he latter was published in 2016, we decided to update this shorter book too on the same pattern. Its publication got delayed since we wanted to cover in it the outcome of challenge to constitutional validity of Muslim Law of triple talaq then pending in the Supreme Court.
The much-awaited judgment was pronounced, in over 400 pages, on 22 August this year. Brief comments on it have been included in Chapter 6 on Divorce and Post-Divorce Rights and our detailed views on the case, published earlier elsewhere, reproduced in an Appendix.
At this abridgment is primarily meant for law students the long Supplements and Appendices of the main work -   containing texts of relevant Quranic verses, additional laws of India, reforming legislation of foreign countries, case comments and the like-have not been reproduced in it. Those interested may refer to Muslim Law in India and Abroad (2nd edition, 2016)
