Description
"To study disease without books is to sail an uncharted sea, while to study books alone is not to go to sea at all". - William Osier.
"Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed and some few to be chewed and digested." - Bacon.
This treatise is designed to provide a brief and essentially practical guide to current teaching in Forensic Medicine with particular reference to India. The subject matter has been dealt with concisely, which is easy to grasp and simplified in presentation, and wherever necessary illustrations, tables and points have been inserted to help the students. The aim is to provide reasonable coverage of the subject as a whole. An attempt has been made to maintain the practical character of the book. I hope the reader will find it of immense help while dealing with any medico-legal case. Over and above, the book has been entirely revised and special additions and alterations have also been made and the overall text brought uptodate.
The Medical Officers should be actualy and sensibly aware of the rationale underlying the various facets of their professional responsibilities and duties. Only when the doctors are throughly informed, their work becomes significant at relevant, and they will be able to make tyruly crucial contributions to the correct solution of various medico-legal problems. The Medicolegal Manual, which is in its fifth edition, is primarily intended to meet the needs of the Medical Officers, Medical Students, Bench & Bar and Public at large. We have ventured to produce this treatise to meet the requirements of the medical and legal profession, by enlarging the contents of the text book "Medicolegal Manual". A large number of important illustrative cases have been included, and an attempt has been made to include important Indian case laws dealing with medicolegal problems.
