Description
It is my pleasure to present before the students and academicians, the second and revised edition of the book. Six years have passed since the first edition was released. During this period, certain changes have taken place which have left an impact in our minds. We have seen drastic changes in the lifestyle of the people coping with the changes that are taking place in and around them. It is a fact that the society changes according to the changing times and circumstances and accordingly we place ourselves in the society to adopt to the changing scenario. With this, the role of media or the press carries much importance, because, media plays a vital role in shaping the mind of the people. It is the media which brings the messages from the nook and corner of the globe and make the people aware of the things happening around them. In the last few years, we have seen the emergence of few electronic media, adding to the existing ones. This is the age of globalization and change is inevitable. In this age of information, the person who is not better informed feels sorry for that as if he has taken a backseat with the progress of the society. Information is power and this powerful information is very much linked with our knowledge. With the growth and development of electronic media, various social media apps are developing very fast and now a days these social media play a crucial role in spreading the information within no times. But to our utter surprise, the social media is being misused to a great extent and the people, particularly the youth who are well conversant with this platform become the victim. As the information spreads, so is the misinformation. People of negative thoughts thus capture the mindset of the youth and they are in search of proper time to spread the misinformation and get the benefit out of that. The mischievous elements get quick success through this medium. During the time of crisis, these elements become more active and within no time they pollute the mindset of the people and in that way divert their attention from the main issues. This trend needs to be checked because a country like India, where different sections of people stay unitedly and peacefully will become a prey to their wrong and destructive motives. So the role of the social media, print media and electronic media and the people associated with them is enhanced and they should take precautionary measures while presenting such crucial issues before the public.
