This is important for the State Administrator to know the powers and responsibilities of the Institute and the expected services from the institute. Simpler and useful formats with blank tables have been given for recording the test data and final result for sample checking of the net content of packages of pre-packed commodities for the purpose of updating the knowledge about the base units of the International System of Units, the latest definitions of base units have been cited as comments. Emphasis has been given that there is no separate class for supplementary units. These are dimensionless derived units. All our efforts have been made to include all the Rules made under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010).

Author Details
Dr. S. V. Gupta  : The author Dr. S. V. Gupta has masters degree in Physics from Allahabad University and in Mathematics from Agra University. He did his PhD degree in Diffrimoscopic images form Delhi University. The author has undergone advanced Training of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures, BIPM, France; International Organisation of Legal Metrology, OIML, Paris Franse; National Physical Laboratory UK; PTB (Physikalicsh Technische Budesanstalt), Germany. He has been associated with various projects with National Institute for Standards and Technology, NIST, USA, and PTB, Germany. The Author is one of pioneers in the field of Metrology and has been associated with Legal Metrology right from the drafting stage of Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1956 and metrication in India.
