Description
The present subject "Women and Law" is one of the most important branches of Law and is of great importance in the present society prescribed for study in the LL.B./B.L. (both 3 years and 5 years degree) course in the Indian Universities. The status of women all over the world, in primitive days, medieval period and also in the present day modern society is discriminatory and prejudicial due to male dominated societies everywhere. To curb the menace of women' discrimination and to uplift the welfare of women, various legislations have been passed in India, envisaging equal rights and status to women on par with men and some of them have been dealt with in this work. I have dealt with the subject in as simple and lucid a way as possible and as comprehensively as necessary, keeping in mind, the requirement of the students from the examination point of view. I welcome suggestions and advice from legal scholars and students for improvement of this work in the next edition.
