Author Details
Dr NK Jayakumar
, is currently Professor and Head, Department of Law, and Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. He is also Dean, Faculty of Law, Kannur University [Kerala], and Chairman, Post-graduate Hoard of Studies in Law, University of Kerala, and Dr Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. Dr Jayakumar has been selected as a National Associate by the University Grants Commission in 1979. He has been Visiting Fellow, Australian National University, Canberra in 1987 and Visiting Professor, Vienna University, Austria in 1998. He has also worked as Secretary of the Kerala  Legislative Assembly during 2000-2001. Other positions held by Dr Jayakumar include Member, Senate and Academic Council, University of Kerala. He is a regular contributor to the Annual Survey of Indian Law, published by the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, and a contributing author of Halsbury's Laws of India, published by LexisNexis. Dr Jayakumar has directed several research projects on socio-legal problems, and is actively associated with several non-governmental organisations in the field of human rights, legal literacy, and law reforms.
An outstanding scholar, and researcher, Dr Jayakumar is the editor of Kerala University Journal of Legal Studies, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Academy Law Review, since 1977. His main areas of reaching and research arc administrative law, jurisprudence, international law and human rights.
