Description
Land acquisition is a process by which either the Central Government or the State Government acquires private land for various purposes. The purpose can be varied. It can be for construction of roads, factories or for developing infrastructure. Once the land is acquired, owners get compensation. The main dispute arises when adequate compensation is not paid when land is acquired. In order to provide a statutory framework for acquisition and award of compensation, land acquisition laws were enacted. The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, which came into effect from 01/01/2014 provides for enough and more statutory framework for dealing with acquisition of land. In this book, I have dealt with the Act 30 of 2013 alongwith its allied Rules. For reference purposes, I have also included the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 with all relevant case laws. I have also provided a comparative chart comparing the provisions of the old Act and the new Act and vice versa. I have also given the text of various
notifications issued under the relevant enactments. For quick reference, a comprehensive index is also given at the end. I am sure that this book will be of useful reference to not only for Lawyers and Courts but also for Officers dealing with Land Acquisition matters. I have taken utmost care in the preparation of the book. If any errors or omissions are brought to notice, I shall consider the same and will carry out it in the future editions. I thank the printers and publishers for undertaking the publication of the book.
