Author Details
Avtar Singh, former Reader in Law at Lucknow University, is a world-renowned authority in commercial laws. He taught at Lucknow University for nearly 40 years and authored several important books, many of which are regarded as leading law books in the country. His exceptional writing style in law earned him numerous awards including the Saraswati Samman and Vidya Bhushan awards from the Uttar Pradesh goverriment.
Harpreet Kaur is the Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Jodhpur. She was a Professor of Law at National Law University, Delhi and is presently on deputation. Previously, she taught Business Law and Labour Law courses to postgraduate students in business schools. She had been a Fulbright Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Scholar at Emory Law School, Atlanta in 2021 and Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Miami Dade College, Miami in 2016. She has teaching and research experience across India, Germany, Norway and USA.
Together, the two authors have several textbooks to their credit including The Textbook on Transfer of Property Act, LexisNexis, 2024 (sixth edition), interpretation of Statutes, LexisNexis, 2020 (fifth edition) and Introduction to Jurisprudence, LexisNexis, 2020 (fourth edition), All the books are regularly updated and edited by Harpreet Kaur.
