Description
The stress and tension that seem increasingly to accompany establishment activity today make it more than ordinarily important that the employers pay serious attention to the question of working hours and leave provisions of employees. Hard work, individualized attention, and ready availability should characterize the service of personnel but equally desirable is an appropriate balance between work, availability, and leisure. It's well known that work-related stress can severely impact our body and mind, especially when it doesn't ease up after a while. The stress and anxiety might give us the energy to power through difficult situations - but excessive work without leave, they start harming the body, causing anything from insomnia and nausea to blood pressure issues, even heart attack. Small wonder then health experts keep reiterating the need to re-evaluate our relationship with work and how we strike work-life balance. While moderate work develops a person, excessive work can prejudice the quality of a person's life. The expressions leave' means leave of absence, that is to say, the permission obtained by an employee from his employer relieving him from the duty of attending the work with or without pay. In cases where leave is governed by leave rules, leave must be obtained according to rules. Where the rules do not prescribe a procedure for obtaining leave, it is reasonable to expect that an employee obtains leave before he goes on leave. A balance is required here and it should find its expression in the hours of work and leave provisions and practices of the institution.
