Description
It was a joy to me when a commentary on Essential Commodities Act, the first book of mine, saw the light of the day in 1983. Meanwhile I have written more than twenty-five books. Truely speaking, the present edition of Law of Evidence is a matter of great pleasure to me as I was longing for this edition. I really met a challenge when I decided to write a commentary on the law of evidence. I put hard labour and devoted myself to the classical works of Wigmore, Best, Phipson, Cross, Halsbury's laws of England, MacCormik, Carter and the works of a few other distinguished authors of Indian Evidence Act. Together with that I relied on the authoritative judicial pronouncements, both English and Indian. I have referred copiously foreign cases so that the readers can easily follow the abstract provisions of the Indian Evidence Act. At the same time I have taken full account of the impact of the recent judicial pronouncements in different fields. Section 3 is modelled like a finger-post so that the readers can follow the right track.
