Like 4th and 5th editions of this book, we have added two new Chapters in the 6th Edition also, which are 'Types of Affidavits' and 'Election Petition and Affidavits. In different chapters of this book, the meaning, contents and types of affidavits have been explained and concepts relating to affidavits and some important documents have also been covered. Further, an insight into importance and relevance of affidavits and their use in litigation has been dealt in separate Chapters. The importance, use and requirement of Affidavits under different statutes viz. the Code of the Civil Procedure, 1908, the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, and the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act 1993 have been explained in other Chapters based on case law. Also, position of affidavits in other allied laws and in election petitions has been elaborated. Some new Model Forms of affidavits pertaining to Applications/Petitions made to Presiding Officers and Recovery Officers of Debts Recovery Tribunals and in Insolvency matters before the NCLTs are added in this edition to already long list of affidavits under different Acts and proceedings. Further, to make it convenient to locate relevant affidavit format by the readers, we have given affidavit formats pertaining to civil matters, criminal matters, tribunals, different authorities etc. under different chapters.

Author Details
Mr. S. Parameswaran: Ever since his enrollment as advocate in Kerala High Court in May 1968, Mr. S. Parameswaran had been a leading lawyer. Besides being an active social worker he was the Legal Advisor and Consultant to several companies and trading firms. He had a roaring practice in High Courts and other Courts and Tribunals in Kerala and outside, particularly in Madras, Bangalore and Delhi. He was active in all branches of Law including Economic Offences.
Besides, he was also the Special Editor, Karnataka Civil and Criminal Reporter; Contributing Editor, Corporate Law Adviser; Member, Editorial Committee, Social Justice and Kerala Law Times. Apart from that he was the Regional Editor of several Law Journals published from different parts of India. He wrote columns in newspapers and periodicals regularly on current legal and social affairs, and presented several papers on law in over hundred National and International Seminars.
He was a Member, Visiting Faculty to the National Law School of India University, Bangalore; The West Bengal University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata; The Indian School of Legal Thoughts, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam; The School of Legal Studies, Kochi; University of Science and Technology, Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Pondicherry and others. Mr. S. Parameswaran was also the Founder-President of the Center for Legal Research, Consumer Protection and Non-formal Legal Education, Kerala; General Secretary, Indian Association of Lawyers, Kerala Chapter; General Secretary, Indian Law Institute, Kerala Unit; and Vice-President, Rasikapriya. Besides, he was the President, Muthamizh Sangam, Kochi; Vice President, All Kerala Brahmins Association; Vice President, All India Brahmins Federation; Secretary General, All India Brahmins Federation; Chairman, Publications Division, Samatha Law Society; Executive Committee Member, Kerala Fine Arts Society.
