The relationship between land and man is inseparable. Land is a gift of Nature for the maintenance and sustenance of mankind on the Planet Earth. A historical overview of the origin and growth of human civilization could reveal that the concept of "Land Reforms" is an age-old concept and survived till date in spite of innumerable changes in the socio-economic, political, cultural and global way of life. The concept of "Land Reforms" has gained significance under various heads, namely, "Land acquisition and requisition by the State", "Land tenures and tenancy". "Land assignment and abolition of intermediaries", "Land ceiling and holdings", "Land Revenue", "Land grabbing and encroachment", "Forest land", and "land under water", etc.
