typographical arrangement of published editions. In the present day knowledge based economy. Intellectual property is a tool for the development and also acts as an accelerator for socio-economic growth. In the present digital era, effective implementation and enforcement of I.P.Rs.is essential not only in respect of inventions protected by patents but also literary and artistic works protected by copyright. The works in which copyright subsists have been expanding incorporating various forms of expression. The copyrights include related rights and independent protection is given to performers, producers of phonograms and broadcasting organizations. Now with the rapid advancement of technology new forms of media have emerged to transmit the copyrighted works. Internet is a tangible medium and the material that has been placed in this medium is also considered as a copyrightable material. The advent of Internet proved both beneficial and detrimental to the interests of the copyright holders. While such rights have encouraged publishers and writers to the electronic media, it also caused serious apprehensions in the minds of the owners they cannot control their works from being pirated.
