Description
The year 2017 witnessed a major change in the Indian tax system in the form of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Form a multitude of indirect taxes levied by the State and the Central Government, dealing with various subjects, the country moved to a single tax across goods and services and cross the nation. While several hiccups were experienced by tax authorities, professionals and taxpayers alike in the transition phase, most of these were teething issues and mostly procedural in nature. However, it remains to be seen how the law and its various concepts will be interpreted going forward and how jurisprudence will develop. While we cannot be certain of the same, we have to dearth of judgements under the earlier Indirect Tax laws explaining crucial concepts.
