Description
History of human and available statistical data confirms that children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years are more easily tempted to deviate towards luxurious living. If they have no requisite socially acceptable ways and means to satisfy such inner temptations, they would tend towards inhuman and criminal activities causing disturbance to social peace and happiness. There are innumerable reasons for deviance of children and adolescents to delinquency. Some of the noticeable reasons are laxity in parental control, lack of proper guidance, advice, care and protection, disputes and differences between parents and other members of family, discriminatory treatment by parents amongst children, fraudulent and deceitful companionship. The need for treating juvenile offenders with human dignity and with a view to reform and transform them as useful citizens, the principle of juvenile justice has been adopted by almost all the civilized countries of the world, inter alia, under the aegis of the United Nations Organization (UNO).
