JUSTICE NARESH KUMAR GUPTA completed LL.B. (Hons) from Indore University and practiced law for two and a half years before joining the MP Judicial Service as Civil Judge Class II in 1979. Over a tenure spanning 32 years, Justice Gupta has served on a multitude of judicial and administrative assignments ranging from courts established under special enactments, Registry of the High Court and deputation to the MP Government's Law and Legislative Affairs Department. Working as Additional Registrar (Vigilance), he had extra charge of Additional Directorship of Judicial Officers Training Institute where he was responsible for conducting training programs for newly appointed Judges of the lower court. As Additional Secretary (Law), he held additional charge as Director Prosecution for Madhya Pradesh, During his second posting to the Law Department, Justice Gupta was appointed as the Principal Secretary and Legal Remembrancer to the government. In 2010, he was elevated to the Madhya Pradesh High Court where, for over seven years, he disposed of more than 48,500 cases. During this period, Justice Gupta frequently lectured at the MP State Judicial Academy on the subject of judgment writing. Upon retirement from the High Court in 2017, Justice Gupta was appointed as Lokayukta (Ombudsman) for the State of Madhya Pradesh.
MANISHA GUPTA graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and began her career contesting numerous cases of urban land ceiling. She also assisted eminent lawyers in the case In Re: Special Courts Bill, 1978. Her practicing career includes a variety of constitutional, labor, corporate, civil and criminal cases. Manisha also worked as Amicus Curiae in the Supreme Court during the early nineties and actively participated in the Supreme Court Legal Aid Cell. One of her noteworthy cases Municipal Council, Ratlam v. Shri Vardhichand & Ors has been widely recognized as a landmark in India for environmental protection and for kick-starting the PIL culture. Manisha maintains her membership of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
