Justice Bijan Kumar Mukherjea, the fourth Chief Justice of India is one of the all time greats. He was almost God like, the closest approximation to the ideal both as a judge and as a man. This book was brought out to mark his 125th birth anniversary. The work requires no justification. Its purpose is set out in the Preface to the first edition. To generations who have passed their lives in the law his is truly clarum et venerabile momen. In an age when all things seem to fall apart, Bijan Babu serves as a beacon reminding us of the right path: great erudition, deep and exact knowledge, thorough exposition of the law and rectitude bordering on saintliness. This edition additionally contains Justice Mukherjea's autobiographical notes.
