Description
International law is so organic and dynamic that it has expanded enormously during the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. International law no more consists of merely the rules which govern the conduct of States inter se. Contemporary international law consists of rules which confer rights on individuals, impose duties on individuals, govern the relations not only between the States but also between the States and international institutions, international institutions and individuals as well as regulate the functioning of the international institutions which possess international personality. International institutions in the 21st century have reached an unprecedented zenith with regard to their intensity, frequency and complexity. The growing complexity of international relations has called for the institutionalisation of international relations. The institutionalisation process has resulted in the introduction of new dimensions in international law and the emergence of international organisations. International organisations have also played a significant role in the process of establishing norms of international law. The question is: What role international organisations have played to establish or influence the norms of international law?
