Description
We hail from a country where the main purpose of any Endeavour is public good and development of society. We have been told since childhood that the chief aim of gain¬ing knowledge is to work selflessly for the people who need support. There was a time when the sole purpose of any research used to be to provide better quality of life as well as development of the poor. Today, the situation is at a stark contrast to this prev¬alent thought. With the development of Intellectual Property protection regime people started recognising the economic worth of their handwork and the rights they possess. Moreover, those who are in a habit of misappropriation got a lot of material to play with. In the past few years, Intellectual Property has enormously expanded its scope. Some forms of intellectual property which till few years back were unknown to the subject have not only gained the status of an important intellectual property but have also become an important aspect of the economy of many countries. 'This could be the result of development of technology which has not only led to debates as to how protected works should be safeguarded when put on these technological devices but also have made people well informed about their rights leading to much more conflicts and debates than ever before. The extent has reached the point that today people discuss what all should not be protected under intellectual property rather than focusing on all is protected under the head
'intellectual property'.
