Description
I am happy that the first full-fledged edition of the book (2008) was very well received by the legal fraternis judiciary, academies, professional managers in the personnel/industrial relations stream, university law college and business schools so much so that no copy of it was available in any Law House for over one year now. I express my deep gratitude to all of them for their kind patronage to the previous edition. I express my profound gratitude to the Hon'ble Mr Justice R Laboti, former Chief  Justice of India, Justice MJ Rao, former Chairman, law commission of India, Mr Sol Sorabjee, former Attomey General of India, M/s fali S Nariman and RX Venugopal, Senior Advocates, Supreme Court, the Principals of various National Law Colleges and other members of legal fraternity for the kind compliments i received for the first edition, In this revised edition, while retaining the ten chapters or the previous edition, I have added important case law from 2007 to 2014 coupled with critical analysis wherever called for In addition, I have introduced separate sections on (1) origin and sources of law, (ii) sexual harassment. b pollution control) labour law reforms initiated in 2014 by NDA government, (v) industrial violence, (vi) controversy on judicial appointments, and (vib) lethargy and indifference of the Parliament, in this edition. With a view to assist the reader in connecting the 'Abbreviations and Statutes' used in the book without much difficulty, separate lists have been incorporated in the preliminary pages, showing the full forms of abbreviation sand enactments. I am deeply indebted to two judges of the Supreme Court, Dr PB Gajendragadkar, former CJI and Justice VR Krishna lyer. The former, with his  Himalayan stature, drafted and delivered more than 440 judgments and enjoys an unbeaten record of maximum number of judgments delivered by any judge of the Supreme Court I wonder it could even be a world record by any judge of the Summit Court of any country. It is equally significant that a majority of his decisions fall in Industrial Law (please refer to chapter 1). Indian industrial community owes not in a small measure to the maturity, vision and balance displayed by Dr Gajendragadkaras well as to his extraordinary command over industrial law and jurisprudence.
