Description
We are extremely happy in placing before the students, law teachers and young lawyers the Second Edition of Indian Penal Code.
As stated in Preface to the First Edition, several books on the subject are available for practising lawyers and judges. There is, however, a paucity of material available to law students, junior advocates and laymen dealing with and explaining fundamental and basic principles of criminal law in simple and lucid language. The Authors are indeed happy and very much aware that their other works, such as, "Civil Procedure", "Administrative Law" and "Lectures on Administrative Law", etc. have been warmly welcomed not only by the student community but also by law teachers, lawyers and judges. Keeping in view the said consideration, the Authors had undertaken the task of explaining the general principles of the Indian Penal Code in the year 2014. More than seven years have passed after the First Edition. It was, therefore, very much necessary to revise the book by taking into consideration amendments in the Code, several decisions of the Supreme Court as also recent development of law. In the present enlarged edition, we have included several new topics for the first time. We have also elaborated almost all topics. Thus, offences against State and Society, offences against Human Body, offences against Property, etc. have been explained in much more detail with reference to decided cases.
