Description
It is no more a news to know afresh that the degree of global warming s gradually increasing. The reasons are obvious. It is because of the increasing degree of environmental pollution, caused by man. Even the Developed countries are not an exception to the adverse affects of the increasing global warming . The unexpected cyclones, tsunamis, thunders j&i floods are the direct consequences of this adverse phenomenon. The attention of the present world is apparently diverted from the urgent need for protecting the environment. Successively convened national and international Conferences, Seminars, awareness programmes relating to the environmental protection and the consequential measures for undertaking the enforcement steps, have remained only as theoretical fantasies. The existing programmes and policies governing the environmental protection through law and executive decisions remind one to an example of putting a goods train running on a track, but without an expert driver. The train is running on its own, and the driver has no control over it, in spite of the fact that the train has all the requisite control tools and equipment. The ultimate victim is the man and his environment. A perusal of the problem of public health situation in and around our country speaks volumes about the negative impact being created already by the increasing pollution of the environment in various ways. A great majority of the people of the world, especially those residing •n urban areas, is suffering from some or other health problems.
