Description
Welcome to the new edition of Understanding Enterprise Information Systems: Concepts and Applications'! As an author, I am sensitive to your learning needs. I believe that presentation is an effective tool that determines the success of an author. For this very reason, I have taken your point of view into consideration. In writing each chapter, I have taken every care to make the content informative as well as easy and interesting to read. EIS as a course and its introduction in the new syllabi in a new 'Avatar' is the reflection of changing times, changing industry requirements and CA's practicing needs. It is the writing on the wall that strategic decision making and entrepreneurial roles that add value beyond traditional financial reporting systems are the need of the hour for modern era CA's. EIS represents the emergence of E-commerce, CORE Banking Systems (CBS), new Financial and Accounting Instruments, Corporate Social Responsibility, Significant Developments in EIS, IT compliance requirements and New Computing Technologies in 21st century corporate environment. EIS helps the professionals at Intermediate level to not only acquire professional knowledge but also the ability to apply such knowledge in problem solving. Ihe aim of EIS is to help CA Intermediate students by clearly explaining, analysing, and evaluating important information system concepts. My approach in writing this book was essentially twofold: to write an accessible textbook that students feel comfortable with but without compromising on the academic rigour.
