The Ministry of Labour and Employment, by an order dated 21.6.2014, has issued criteria for inspections with an objection that to achieve the objective of simplifying business regulations and bring in transparency and accountability in labour inspections. It envisages objective criteria for selection of units for inspection. The much-awaited minimum monthly pension of Rs. 1,000 for Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) subscribers and increase in wage ceiling to Rs. 15,000 a month have come into effect from 1.9.2014.
