Description
Criminal Law is one of the most dynamic of all law subjects. Criminal offences are often the focus of media and Government debate, and many students who choose to study law do so because of their notions of justice as portrayed in dramas about criminal trials. Even soap operas will have a criminal court case every now and again to keep their viewers mesmerised. Yet the substantive criminal law is technical and can be very demanding. There are inconsistent, complex and sometimes illogical decisions which have to be understood and analysed by the student of law. We have tried to make the law as accessible and understandable as possible, without losing any of the complexities and critical commentary which ensure the higher marks. To assist, we have included flowcharts, tables, summaries, "Over to you boxes" to develop critical thinking, and end of chapter questions and suggested answers which we hope you will find useful in seminar and essay preparation and for revision purposes. There are also a few features new to this edition, namely Key Cases Grids and "Hear from the Author" segments. The book is designed to cover all LLB and GDL modules in criminal law and all the main topic areas on the CILEx Level 6.
