Description
The book A Treatise on Consumer Protection Laws is revised by Manoj K.Sinha, Director, ILI, Jupi Gogoi and Arya A.Kumar, Assistant Professors, ILI. The original book was published by the Indian Law Institute in 2004 and was prepared by S.K Verma and M.Afzal Wani and assisted by S.S. Jaswal. The book was highly appreciated by the legal fraternity. Since the book was published more than a decade back, there was a need felt for the revision of the book to keep abreast with the new developments that has taken place in the field of consumer protection. In this revised edition, an attempt has been made to include all the important changes that have taken place in the field of consumer protection in India till the year 2014. Two new chapters, Chapter-4, The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 authored by Arya A.Kumar and Chapter-8, The Legal Metrology Act, 2009 authored by Jupi Gogoi has been added in this revised book. This book unlike other consumer protection books in not just limited to the Consumer Protection Act but includes several other legislations which are intrinsic to the welfare of the consumers in India. Keeping in mind the various problems faced by the consumers, the uniqueness of the book lies in the fact that all important legislations are put under the umbrella of this book. It is useful for lawyers, academia as well as lay men who face these problems every now and then.
