Description
Among the branches of Public Law, Constitutional Law is of great importance. It is also known as "Municipal Law and Supreme Law of the Land". It is a systematic body of rules that determines the Constitution and functioning of the Government in a State. It lays down the rules and regulations, which determine/regulate the relations between the State/Government and the people. The Supreme Law of the Land in India is the Constitutional Law of India. It is a lengthiest written document, which came into force on 26 January, 1950. In view of changing needs social, economic and political from time to time, it has been amended 100 times till the Constitution (Hundredth Amendment) Act, 2014 dated 31-12-2014. The framers of our Constitution made untiring efforts in moulding the Constitution to achieve the ideals and goals enshrined in the preamble to establish an egalitarian society. Further, the Constitution under Art. 368, confers on the Parliament, the power to amend the provisions of the Constitution so as to meet the changing conditions, social, economic and political. There are good number of works by distinguished personalities on this prestigious and voluminous subject.
