Description

Professor A.L. Diamond quoted once, "The Company is the greatest single discovery of modern times. Even steam and electricity are less important than the Company". might be a thing which necessitates a grander admiration than such Company is "the Companies Act". The Companies Act is the longest statute on any subject ever to pass through the Indian Parliament. That is the measure of challenge, both for an author and for students of Company Law particularly when added to the formidable panorama of decided cases. The pace of change in Company Law is sometimes bewildering but the subject-matter is always fascinating. For many years, the main Act regulating the Companies was the 1956 Companies Act. There were number of subsequent amendments in the legislation. The passage of the Companies Act, 2013 has superseded the 1956 Companies Act and is now the main reference point.
