Description
Growing business failures has led to expectation gap considering such failure to be an audit failure at the first instance. The expectation gap needs to be bridged as well as the quality of audit and its documentation needs to be improved drastically. Growing compliances and watchful eyes by various stakeholders on auditors have made auditors more conscious in performing their duties with fear in their minds. All stakeholders are relying on assurance given by auditors through their reports and certificates and in case of any fraud or misrepresentation by the management; auditors are called to evidence that they performed their duties with utmost care and in compliance with applicable laws and standards. In such a case only proper and adequate documentation by the auditor can come to their rescue to evidence that they performed their duty with utmost care and best of their ability. ICAI has brought in DCMM Version 2.0 to self-evaluate digital competence. CAQ of ICAI has also mandated AQMM v. 1.0 for listed entities from 1.4.2023, Peer Review is also mandated for various audit firms in phased manner. There are amendments in various regulations, especially in Schedule III and CARO 2020, etc. Due to all these factors, it was thought prudent to revise this book taking into account the role of auditors and audit firms to adequately document their quality controls and performance of their engagements to withstand review of their quality controls and engagements by any regulator.
