Description
It is three years since the last edition. In that time, there has been a steady development in the case law. On the occasion of the last edition, some restructuring of the text was carried out in consequence of the passing of the Consumer Rights Act. The structure of the current edition is unchanged. For the last three years or so, there has been the looming presence of Brexit. The legislative developments in aid of this process are dealt with in the text. In the short term at least, for reasons stated in the text, there will be few substantive changes in the law of sale of goods. The possibility should be noted of divergence in the years to come between the interpretation given to existing EU Regulations and secondary legislation flowing from EU Directives in the UK and that given to them in the EU. obenims) bob wel nammos te down to housed wiod aineolit On the legislative side, account is taken of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 and the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020, together with the concomitant secondary legislation. The Payment Services Regulations 2017 are considered. Mention is also made of the Directive (EU) 2019/771 on certain aspects concerning contracts for the sale of goods, which modifies Directive 1999/44 on the same subject, but this will come into force in the European Union only in 2022 after the withdrawal of the UK from the Union. The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 contains certain provisions that bear upon contractual freedom between suppliers and receivers of goods and services. A substantial feature of this edition is the extended treatment in Chapter 23 of the Uniform Rules for Collections (URC 522) Supplement for Electronic Presentation (eURC). Account is also taken there of the updated version of the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP 600) Supplement for angol ni nose ased svart ond Electronic Presentation (eUCP Version 2.0).
