Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology that is revolutionising the processing of data, information, and knowledge. It is opening up new channels for interaction and serving as the foundation for cutting-edge services across all industries. While there is currently no theoretical framework for deciding what artificial intelligence (AI) can and cannot accomplish, or what it should and should not do, there are significant ethical implications and serious hazards to humanity. This disparity makes sense because there are complex philosophical issues when it comes to applying ethics and the law to artificial intelligence. The end effect is a very difficult strategic problem. If we attempt to avoid basic problems in order to find practical solutions, we might make fundamental mistakes.
AI affects the legal industry in two ways: first, by modernising working procedures and practices; second, by evaluating the effects of new services in various industries. AI provides lawyers with a number of tools that they can use to complete their work, forecast how court cases will turn out, analyse a large number of documents, and spot trends. Artificial intelligence has applications to help judges and law enforcement in the field of preventing corruption. Customers can already use chatbots to fix their own problems without assistance.
Human Beings are solely responsible for the creation or use of AI. This man-made intelligence works upon data, sensors, algorithms etc. for which proper maintenance is required. To avoid any biased or wrong decisions, we must feed correct data, only then can we expect better and fruitful results. A well drafted legislation defining the rights and obligations of the persons using artificial intelligence is the need of the hour.
This book comprising of chapters on Impact of AI on Environment, Legal Industry, Society, workplaces, etc. is an effort to highlight the importance of recognizing AI as a "Personality" like Natural (human beings) or Legal personalities (companies) as AI will sooner or later effect the fundamental, legal and intellectual property rights of its originator. We should be one step ahead and start working on the guidelines stating the liabilities of the parties in case of civil wrong or criminal offences committed with the assistance of or by AI.
