Description
'Administrative Law' is the law that deals with the exercise of powers and functions of the State and their agencies in relation with the citizens and private persons under the constitutional and legal system of the country. The legislature enacts the law and entrusts the power of subordinate legislation to the executive which administers and applies the law. The rule of law, justice and fairness demand that no wing of the Government or its agencies should transgress the limitations provided by the constitution and the law. The final interpretative power rests with the judiciary which keeps the administrative authorities within their bounds. It is a subject of many dimensions, the principles of which have become well settled but the evolution is constant due to the policy decisions of the Government from time to time and their enforcement by the statutory and administrative provisions and the role of judiciary as protector of the constitution and law for ensuring the protection of rights, justice and liberties on which many theories have developed from ancient period to the present day.
